Tata Communications, a leading provider of the new world of communications, today announces that it has been chosen by German reinsurance company, Hannover Re, to deploy and run its Telepresence facilities, serving the group’s internal teams in 18 locations across 16 countries, worldwide.
Tata Communications will roll out the Cisco Telepresence high-definition; immersive video collaboration systems to help employees based in Europe, North America, Asia, Middle East and Africa collaborate with each other on a daily basis. (more…)
Industry first service links Tata Communications’ and BT’s video exchange communities
Tata Communications and BT today announce an agreement and associated customer trials for the industry’s first commercial service to allow customers on either of their existing video exchanges to establish conferences with customers on the other’s video exchange. The collaboration will provide each organization with open access to a much broader network of businesses.
This represents a major step towards open, ubiquitous connectivity between Telepresence™ endpoints, regardless of their parent network. The service will help enable Telepresence users to reach more partners, suppliers, customers and prospects at public and private end-points and will facilitate globally distributed, real time face-to-face virtual conference meetings that drive greater value to the collaborating businesses. Tata Communications, a leading global provider of a new world of communications, reported its consolidated financial results under Indian GAAP for the year ended March 31, 2010. Consolidated revenues increased by 10.7 % to Rs 11,026 crores (about $2.32 Billion) from Rs. 9,963 crores in the previous year.
The company’s operating profit (EBIDTA) was Rs 1,012 crores for 2009-10 as against Rs 1,366 crores for the previous year. The company reported a net loss of Rs 598 crores for 2009-10. The consolidated net loss for the year includes a loss of Rs 464 crores for the company’s holding in Neotel, South Africa. The company’s shareholding in Neotel was at an effective 49.01 % for the full year as against 22.01% for a significant period of the previous year. The consolidated net loss also includes increases in other non-cash costs, depreciation by Rs 409 crores (consequent to significant amount of capitalization done over the last two years) and provision for retirals by Rs 161 crores (consequent to changes in actuarial assumptions for our overseas subsidiaries and amendments in the gratuity provisions in India). Guests and corporate clients were brought together in a true-to-life meeting setting, despite more than 9,000 miles apart and the 17 hour time difference.
