If you develop or test websites and applications, OperaWatir (pronounced “Water”) and OperaDriver are about to make short work out of testing your creation in Opera. Rather than time-consuming manual tests, OperaWatir and OperaDriver allow you to build automated tests that interact with your pages just as a user would, such as clicking links, entering text and submitting forms.
OperaWatir is a branch of the open source toolkit Web Application Testing in Ruby (WATIR). With the initial release of OperaWatir, all major browsers are now represented. Opera Software and MTS, the mobile telephony services brand of Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL), have signed an agreement that would enable MTS customers to download Opera Mini on a range of mobile phone models from leading handset manufacturers such as Samsung, ZTE, Haier, Huawei, Micromax and Hisense.

Women flock to the mobile Web
In just two years, the percentage of women on the mobile Web has risen 575%, according to Opera’s State of the Mobile Web Report, published today. South Africa leads the world’s push for gender equality on the mobile Web, with women accounting for nearly 44% of mobile web users.
Opera’s State of the Mobile Web Report, published monthly, provides information on the top global trends affecting the mobile Web. The Telenor Group and Opera Software announce a non -exclusive Global Frame Agreement aiming to stimulate rapid growth of mobile Internet services across Telenor’s business units. Telenor’s business units can co-brand, distribute and run the Opera Mini mobile browser across its mobile handset and subscriber portfolios. As a result, Telenor’s customers in all geographies will be able to enjoy a fast, affordable and user-friendly mobile web experience on their favourite handset.
Under the agreement, Opera Software and any of Telenor Group’s business units may develop a co-branded version of Opera Mini that is adapted to the local operator. Opera Mini is the world’s most popular mobile phone browser with 60 million monthly users.
