Acer, the third largest PC giant in India has joined hands with Assam Electronics Development Corporation (AMTRON) to award the meritorious students of the state. Acer recently bagged an order from AMTRON to provide6,300 notebooks to its students under the Anundoram Borooah Awards scheme initiative. Every student who secured 60% and higher in the Secondary Education Board of Assam were rewarded with a free laptop by the Government of Assam.
The notebooks operating on Linux was specifically developed by Acer with a series of features to meet the student’s specific requirements. Having already created a strong foothold in the industry, Acer aims to further fortify its position through such initiatives. Acer is betting big on the education sector and believes it to be the next growth driver for the coming year. Education segment has always been a major growth area for Acer and its current association with Assam state government has been an integral part of the company’s strategy to expand its footprints in this space.

For the past five years the Anundoram Borooah Awards Scheme has been supporting the students who have excelled in their academics with 60% and above. This scheme has been extremely successful in reaching out to student enabling them to be more technology savy and aware of computer usage where Acer has been used as a catalyst in helping them to move from a PC to a laptop for the first time.
